This Easy Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan recipe is so simple. Just like regular Chicken Parmesan, it can be served over pasta or enjoyed on it’s own. The air fryer makes the chicken extra crunchy so it can stand up to the sauce, but the inside is still luscious and juicy. This recipe is perfect for the whole family, and easy to scale up for parties or larger family gatherings. We absolutely love it in the Farmer house!

Using the Air Fryer

I have been using my air fryer more and more these days. It’s so easy to set it for a little bit and then come back to a delicious bite! The key to this recipe is to not overcrowd the air fryer if you want a crunchy exterior and a juicy center. I like to make my chicken in batches of 3-4 pieces at once, flipping them over at the halfway point.

Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan

While this does take a little bit more time, it guarantees the texture that I love. However, you can layer the pieces of chicken on top of each other if you prefer. Try to leave space between the pieces in each layer so the air can circulate around them. You may need to cook your chicken longer if you layer it in this way. Always check that the internal temperature of chicken reaches 165 degrees before serving.

Ingredients in Easy Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan

My Easy Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan is ready from start to finish in about 25 minutes. Most of your time will be spent coating the chicken breasts and then waiting for them to crisp up. The ingredients contain two different types of breadcrumbs, and I use pre-bought pasta sauce as a shortcut!

Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan Ingredients

The ingredients you will need for the Air Fryer Chicken are:

  • eggs
  • Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
  • Panko breadcrumbs
  • grated parmesan
  • black pepper
  • salt
  • flour
  • boneless skinless chicken breasts
Chicken Parmesan Toppings Ingredients

The ingredients for the toppings are:

  • pasta sauce (I like Rao’s)
  • shredded mozzarella
  • fresh basil (optional)
  • hot cooked pasta (optional)

How to Make Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan

Preheat your air fryer to 375 degrees.

In a shallow bowl, combine bread crumbs, Panko, Parmesan cheese, black pepper, and salt.

With a separate shallow bowl, add the beaten egg mixture.

In another shallow bowl, add the flour.

Gently dredge each chicken cutlet into the flour bowl and shake off excess.

Then, dip the chicken cutlet into the egg mixture and shake off excess.

Coat the chicken cutlet with the breadcrumb mixture, and gently press the breadcrumbs into each chicken cutlet.

Chicken Coated in Breadcrumbs

Place the chicken in a single layer on the greased tray in air fryer basket.

Cook until a thermometer inserted reads 165 degrees or about 10-12 minutes, turning halfway through cooking time.

Top each cutlet with equal portions of the pasta sauce and mozzarella cheese.

Chicken with Mozzarella and Sauce

Cook in the air fryer until cheese is melted for about 3 minutes longer.

Top with optional basil, additional Parmesan cheese, and serve with hot pasta. Enjoy!
