During the summer, all I want is a nice, juicy burger. This Healthy Turkey Burger Recipe is the perfect burger to satisfy and stay on track with your weight goals. I use lean 90/10 ground turkey, minced garlic, and Worcestershire sauce as the main flavor components of this dish. Grilling these burgers outside is preferred, but they can certainly be cooked indoors on an indoor grill. Serve these Healthy Turkey Burgers on whole wheat buns with your favorite toppings.

What is the Fat Content of Ground Turkey?

Just like with ground beef, always check the fractional number listed on the label. This will be the meat to fat content ratio. When the butchers are grinding up the meat for sale, they will mix in a percentage of fat for flavor and juiciness. For this recipe, I use 90/10, meaning 90% meat, 10% fat. The fat is present for flavor and texture in the burgers. Any more fat content and the calorie and fat counts will go up.

Always pay attention to the numbers on your ground meat packaging, and you will have no problem figuring out your caloric intake for the meal. Want more ground turkey recipes? Try my Healthy Turkey Meatballs Recipe.

How many calories are in a turkey burger?

For this specific turkey burger recipe there are 354 calories. However, it goes beyond the calorie content! Turkey is lower in saturated fats, making it a better option for your heart health versus the typical red meat burger.

How do you make turkey burgers stick together?

Just like combining any meat together, you need something to hold the meat together. This is case we are using breadcrumbs and egg to the turkey mixture before shaping the patty. The breadcrumbs will soak up the moisture from the turkey, egg and Worcestershire sauce.

Why do my turkey burgers fall apart when I grill?

If you often have problems with your turkey burgers falling apart, stick them in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes. By cooling the turkey burger, this will help to firm them up and allow the dry ingredients to soak up the moisture.
