Being a stay-at-home Mom is an incredibly important job.  I know because I spent several years taking care of my family.  However, it can sometimes feel thankless and like your efforts go unnoticed.  I’m here to tell you that you are not alone!  These Encouraging Bible Verses for Stay at Home Moms really helped me in that season of my life.  I hope they remind you how important you are to your family, children, and ultimately God’s church.

Proverbs 31:27

Encouraging Bible Verses for Stay at Home Moms

She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.  Proverbs 31:27

Transitioning from working full time to being a stay at home mom was really difficult for me.  It’s no joke when you’re serving your family and managing your household.  You’re busy!  On top of that, I realized that I was putting my worth and value into how I interacted with my colleagues and the success I found in my career.  This verse reminds me that my family is the most meaningful, and there is still much to be done!

1 Timothy 3:4-5

He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him; and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?)  1 Timothy 3:4-5

Family is the most important ministry and God is so proud of us when we manage them correctly!  He sees us cooking, cleaning, doing the laundry, and taking our kids to practices over and over again.  Even when those things seem mundane and ordinary, it is extraordinary that you’re able to serve your family well.  Not everyone has the luxury of staying home and watching their little ones grow up.

Encouraging Bible Verses for Stay at Home Moms: Proverbs 24:3-4

By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.  Proverbs 24:3-4

I’m not going to lie, having a weekly or biweekly paycheck sounds nice.  But, a paycheck doesn’t and shouldn’t define you.  In fact, a recent survey found that stay at home Moms work an average of 98 hours per week!  That’s the equivalent of 2.5 jobs.  Let this encouraging Bible verse serve as a reminder that your treasure (or paycheck) is found at home in the smiles of your beautiful and well-loved family.

Psalm 62:8

Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.  Psalm 62:8

When I felt overwhelmed as a stay at home Mom, I would often lean on this verse.  Let Him know what you need and He will provide.  Let Him comfort you when your hands are full, or when you’re missing work.  Momming can be hard, but you are equipped by His grace to do it!

Encouraging Bible Verses for Stay at Home Moms: 1 Peter 4:10

Encouraging Bible Verses for Stay at Home Moms

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others; as faithful stewards of God’s grace in various forms.  1 Peter 4:10

No matter what we’re doing, the Bible reminds us that it’s our duty to serve others.  Whether we’re delivering packages, putting rockets into space, or tending to skinned knees and picky eaters, we should attempt to do those things fully and gladly.  Before all else, we are representatives of God’s kingdom!

Proverbs 22:6

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.  Proverbs 22:6

I love this encouraging verse – especially for stay at home Moms.  Who better than to teach your children than you?  If you’re going to strive to be like Jesus and set an example for others, your family will reap the benefits most.  Setting our children and future generations up for success physically, and especially spiritually, is the most important work, no matter if the world says otherwise.  Daron and I often repeat this verse to each other when parenting gets tough!

Romans 5:8

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  Romans 5:8

Give yourself grace, Mama.  I had some terrible days as a stay at home Mom, and you probably have too.  I’ve cried, screamed, and failed all in the same 10 minutes.  If God can show grace to us, we can show ourselves grace too.  It’s imperative that we move past those bad days and try, try again.

Galatians 6:9

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.  Galatians 6:9

The harvest, in this case, is many!  A well-loved and cared for household, setting a positive example for other families, teens who make wise decisions, children who become your friends as adults, I could go on!  It can sometimes be hard to see the fruitfulness in 6 loads of laundry, but over time, the harvest will become apparent.  Our Ethan is an adult now and I can’t tell you enough how proud I am of the young man he’s become.  He helps us so much now that he’s grown and we couldn’t be more grateful!

Encouraging Bible Verses for Stay at Home Moms: Esther 4:14

Esther 4:14

…And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?  Esther 4:14

We have to trust God’s timing.  He has great plans for all of us, and sometimes, those plans involve years of being a stay at home Mom.  Once I got settled into the rhythm of staying home with my children (if there is such a thing…), I learned to love it.  I could see how positively it affected them when I was home and accessible for all their needs.  Being able to instantly encourage them on hard days, help with school work, or just play and hang out did wonders for our relationships.  We had so much more time to bond!

I can honestly say that being a stay at home mom was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.  I’m closer with my children and with Daron too.  God’s told me over and over again that my job as a wife and mother comes first!  And, now that the kids are getting older, I’ve found time to come alongside Daron and help with his business too.  It really was a gift to stay home with my family, and I hope these encouraging Bible verses for stay at home Moms help you!
