A Love Story in Every Bite

Chocolate chip cookies are Daron’s favorite—his one true love next to me, haha! And I love making them for him, especially when they’re as rich, gooey, and delicious as this recipe. With nutty brown butter and melty pools of chocolate, these cookies are the perfect way to say I love you.

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, I thought they would be the perfect sweet treat to show him just how much he means to me. After all, food has a way of bringing us together, of expressing love without words. And these cookies? They’re a love letter in dessert form.

Food for Thought: Love That Lasts

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.” – 1 Corinthians 13:4-5

Love is more than words or gestures—it’s a choice we make every day. In marriage, it’s found in the small moments—the warm cookies shared at the kitchen table, the prayers whispered for each other, the grace given on hard days. This verse reminds me that real love isn’t about perfection, but about choosing patience, kindness, and forgiveness every single day.

Just like these cookies, love is best when shared. So whether you’re making these for your spouse, kids, or a friend who needs a little extra sweetness, let them be a reminder of the love we’re called to give—one bite at a time.

Helpful Tips for the Best Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • Use high-quality chocolate – Chopped chocolate melts better than regular chips, giving you those signature melty pools.
  • Don’t skip browning the butter – It adds a rich, deep caramel flavor that takes these cookies to the next level.
  • Chill the dough – Even just 30 minutes helps solidify the fats, preventing spreading and resulting in thicker cookies.
  • Weigh your flour – Using a kitchen scale ensures the right texture (too much flour makes cookies dry!).
  • Slightly underbake – The cookies will continue to cook as they cool, keeping them soft and chewy inside.
  • Use a cookie scooper – This ensures evenly sized cookies that bake at the same rate.
