How I prayed for a husband, trusting God’s plan for marriage, and experienced the blessing of finding love after divorce.
A Love Story Rooted in Faith
Hey, y’all! I’m so excited to share a piece of our love story—how finding love after divorce led me to the man I had been praying for. Daron and I met in the most unexpected way, and our journey has been a testimony of trusting God’s plan for marriage and believing in His perfect timing. Today, I’m sharing special moments from our wedding and the beautiful song, “God Gave You to Me,” that Daron wrote and recorded as a wedding gift. If you’re single, waiting, or trusting God for your future husband, I pray this story encourages you.
Praying for My Future Husband After Divorce
After my divorce, I spent six years as a single mom, praying over and over in my tear-stained journal for a faithful husband after God’s heart—someone who would also pray for Easton and me. More than anything, I longed for a spiritual leader for our home.
When God brought Daron into my life, He far exceeded my prayers. Finding love after divorce was not easy, but Daron’s heart for worship, his deep love for others, and his unwavering faith showed me that God’s plan is always better than my own.
Finding Love After Brokenness
Our love story didn’t start like a fairy tale—it started with friendship. Introduced through my church pastor, Daron and I connected through FaceTime, something I had only used to talk to my 6-year-old son at the time! But from that first call, we discovered we had so much in common—faith, family, leadership, business, fitness, and even golf.
But the biggest bond we shared was our experience with brokenness. We both knew what it was like to suffer loss, betrayal, and the pain of unfulfilled dreams. Yet, through it all, God sustained us. Finding love again after divorce wasn’t just about romance—it was about healing, restoration, and trusting that God was leading our steps.
Fasting and Seeking God’s Plan for Marriage
In the early weeks of our friendship, Daron asked me to do something unexpected—a three-day fast to surrender our relationship to God. At first, I hesitated. I had never done a fast like that before, especially not with a friend or potential partner. But I longed for God’s direction, so I agreed.
That fast changed everything. God began revealing that Daron was not just a friend, but the answer to my prayers. He also exposed my fears—the ones keeping me from receiving love again.
Falling in Love and Saying Yes to God’s Plan for Marriage
After our fast, Daron invited me to a leadership conference in Dallas, and that weekend changed both of our hearts. We laughed, worshiped, prayed, and talked for hours. By the time we left, we both knew—we were falling in love.
A few months later, after meeting each other’s children and feeling complete peace, Daron proposed. It was simple, sweet, and perfect—on the back porch in the Texas sunshine. I said YES to my best friend, and we decided not to wait. Instead of planning a big wedding, we eloped to Cabo San Lucas and had the most beautiful, intimate ceremony by the ocean.
A Wedding Gift Like No Other
One of the most special moments of our wedding was when Daron surprised me with a song he wrote and recorded just for me. The words were more than lyrics—they were a prayer, a declaration, and a promise to trust God in every season.
- God gave you to me.
- Two hearts beating as one.
- He will lead us by faith.
Little did we know, that song would become the anthem of our lives.
Trusting God’s Plan for Marriage in Every Season
Since that beautiful day, our life together has been anything but predictable. We moved 500+ miles, navigated blended family life, and faced battles we never expected. But through it all, trusting God’s plan for marriage has been our anchor.
If you’re still waiting for God’s plan to unfold in your life, I want to encourage you:
🙏 To my single friends: Keep praying, trusting, and believing that finding love after divorce is possible when you wait for God’s perfect timing. Marriage is one of the most important decisions you’ll ever make—wait for a faithful husband who will lead, pray, and walk beside you in faith.
💛 To those healing from divorce or loss: God sees you, loves you, and will redeem every broken piece. Forgiveness brings freedom, and trusting Him will bring healing.
💍 To my married friends: Never take your marriage for granted. Pray together, encourage one another, and fight for love daily. Even in hard seasons, God can restore, strengthen, and bless your relationship when you surrender it to Him.
God’s Perfect Plan for Love and Marriage
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11
Wherever you are in your love story—waiting, healing, or growing—I pray you hold onto this truth: God’s plan for marriage is always greater.
