This past week, we experienced an Easter miracle story on the farm that turned into a meaningful family Easter devotion idea for our whole household.
After a coyote attack, two of our sheep went missing. We searched the pasture and fence lines, but they were gone. The next day, when we couldn’t find our third ewe, we feared the same outcome. But when Daron walked around the back of the barn, there she was—safe, alive, and not alone.
She had just given birth to a tiny, wobbly, beautiful lamb.
We believe her life was spared because she stayed close to the barn to give birth. And now, just days before Easter, new life was here—surprising us and reminding us that even when hope feels lost, God is still working.
A Family Easter Devotion Idea from the Pasture
It’s been such a joy these last few days to hold this sweet baby lamb and watch her walking the pasture beside her mama. It’s brought delight to our home and hearts. And the timing—right before Easter—turned into the perfect opportunity for one of our favorite family Easter devotion ideas.
“Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”
—John 1:29
At dinner, we shared with our kids how Jesus didn’t arrive as a conquering king, but as a humble servant riding on a donkey. We talked about Palm Sunday and what it means—that Jesus came as the Lamb of God, innocent and willing to give His life for ours. He is the Lamb who takes away the sin of the world, and because of His sacrifice, we now have freedom, forgiveness, and eternal joy.
What began as sadness on the farm quickly turned into an Easter miracle story that pointed us right back to Jesus. When it feels like something is lost—peace, purpose, or hope—God may be preparing to reveal something brand new, just in time.
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for being the Lamb who gave everything so we could walk in joy and freedom. Thank You for the small miracles that remind us of Your goodness. Help us slow down this week and remember why You came. Fill our homes with peace and our hearts with awe. Amen.
Activation:
Take time this week to talk with your family or journal on your own about why Jesus came. Reflect on where you’ve seen signs of new life—big or small—and thank God for being the kind of King who chose a cross out of love for you.
