What does Jerk Seasoning Contain?
Jerk seasoning is a wonderful, spicy blend of a multitude of ingredients. Most famously, the Scotch Bonnet pepper is utilized in jerk seasoning to give that familiar intense heat. It is a chili pepper native to Jamaica, however it is also used in a lot of African cooking as well. Jerk seasoning also contains allspice, cloves, cinnamon, scallions, brown sugar, ginger, and garlic. Different brands have different types of jerk seasoning blends.

Ingredients in Jerk Chicken with Mango Salsa and Rice
- mango
- Roma tomato
- red onion
- fresh cilantro
- lime zest
- lime juice
- salt
- boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Caribbean jerk seasoning
- extra virgin olive oil
- rice of choice, for serving
How to Make Jerk Chicken with Mango Salsa and Rice
To make the salsa: In a medium bowl, stir together the mango, tomato, onion, cilantro, lime zest, lime juice, and salt to combine. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
To make the jerk chicken: Place the chicken breasts and jerk seasoning in a large resealable bag. Seal and shake a few times to evenly coat the chicken. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook until done, 4 to 6 minutes per side.
Serve the chicken warm topped with the mango salsa, along with cooked rice of your choice

- 1 Roma tomato, diced
- 1/2 cup diced red onion
- 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 tsp grated lime zest
- 1 tsp lime juice
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 4 4 oz boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 tbsp Caribbean Jerk seasoning
- 2 tsp extra virgin olive oil
- rice of choice, for serving
