A devotion about how to worship with your family and make space for God in everyday life. Discover how one quiet moment on vacation became holy ground—and changed everything.

worship with your family

“But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.”
—John 4:23 (NLT)

When God Shows Up in the Ordinary

We were in Mexico for spring break—just me, Daron, Easton, and Hailey. That morning we had ordered room service, and everything about it felt like a dream. We sat out on our balcony with a peaceful view of the ocean, the sun rising and casting golden light across the water.

We had all our favorites on the table—chocolate chip pancakes, fresh fruit, good coffee, and fresh-squeezed orange juice. The kids were smiling, and we were all just talking and laughing, soaking in the moment.

Before we left the table, Daron said, “Let’s take a minute and thank God for letting us be here.” He opened the Bible app on his phone and read a short devotion. Nothing long. Just a simple, thankful pause.

Then—he started to sing.

Worship With Your Family—Right Where You Are

His voice cracked with emotion, and I could feel tears coming as the presence of God filled the space. It was thick, tender, and unexpected. Daron turned to Hailey and said, “You sing now.”

She opened her mouth, and the moment her voice came out, it cracked too. She broke down in tears. And suddenly all of us—me, Daron, Hailey—we were weeping. Even Easton, who’s usually more reserved in worship, sat silently, wide-eyed and still.

Make Space for God in Everyday Life

It wasn’t a church service. There was no stage or spotlight. But God showed up. And that balcony became holy ground.

This is what it means to worship with your family. Not just on Sunday. Not just at church. But in your everyday moments—at the table, in the car, on the couch—wherever you are willing to make space for God.

How to Make Space for God in Everyday Life

That moment lasted only 10 minutes. But it marked us.

We live in a world that pushes us to keep performing, keep posting, keep doing. But real connection with God isn’t built in the hustle. It’s found in the quiet.

Making space for God in everyday life looks like setting down your phone for a minute. Saying grace and meaning it. Pausing to thank Him before the day begins. Singing with your kids just because you feel His presence.

And when we do this—as a family—we show our kids what real worship looks like. We teach them that God isn’t just found in a building. He’s found wherever He’s invited.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for being a God who meets us right where we are. Thank You for showing up in our ordinary days and turning them into sacred moments. Help us to slow down, to be present, and to make space for You in our homes. Teach us how to worship with our families, not out of routine, but out of real love. Amen.

Activation: A Simple Step to Invite God In

Take 10 quiet minutes today. Turn off your phone. Sit with your kids, your spouse, or by yourself. Play soft worship music or sit in stillness. Thank God out loud. Invite Him in. Ask Him to meet you—and He will.

Worship with your family. Make space for God. And let Him turn your ordinary into holy.
